Internal Audit Officer
Southern Bank in Poplar Bluff is hiring an internal audit officer to support the execution of the annual audit plan. With $4.3 billion in assets, Southern Bank serves more than 50 communities in Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois and Kansas. This position can be located at any of the branches within the bank’s footprint!
Responsibilities
- oversee and manage the daily operations of the internal audit department
- manage and ensure adherence to the Sarbanes Oxley Act
- audit a variety of technical and operating records and procedures requiring the application of professional auditing principles and standard operating procedures for the various business units
- supervise the audit team in the completion of audit engagements, ensuring the highest quality work within the budgeted hours and delivered in a timely manner
- provide an independent and objective assurance and advisory service to senior management and the audit committee
- oversee the preparation and development of the audit plan with ongoing amendments to address emerging risks
- assess the control environment and devise techniques to analyze and evaluate audit evidence and results to measure compliance with the established control framework
- produce high quality working papers and reports to document the tests performed, findings, conclusions and recommendations for committees and relevant groups
- oversee internal auditors in adherence to Sarbanes Oxley Act
Requirements
- bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent work experience
- knowledge of or experience with internal controls or Sarbanes Oxley Act related matters
- 5-10 years’ managerial work experience in a highly diversified organization
