The Missouri Bankers Association’s 11th annual
Segs4Vets campaign is off to a swinging start, thanks in part to The Heroes Cup golf tournament.
For the fourth consecutive year, MBA Young Bankers in Region 6 sponsored The Heroes Cup to benefit Segs4Vets, MBA’s designated charity. Golfers on 30 teams hit the links Monday, Sept. 23, at Highland Springs Country Club in Springfield to support Segs4Vets. This year, The Heroes Cup raised $13,741 for Segs4Vets. In just four years, The Heroes Cup has donated more than $46,300 to MBA’s Segs4Vets fundraising campaign.
Segs4Vets is a volunteer program that provides Segway mobile transporters to help severely injured veterans. Since 2009, banks in Missouri, their employees and communities have raised more than $623,000 to support Segs4Vets.
The $13,741 from The Heroes Cup supports MBA’s 2019 Segs4Vets campaign. This year’s fundraising goal is $77,000. The cost to provide a Segway is nearly $10,000. The cost for an ALLY chair, a modified Segway chair, is $15,000. For every $1 donated, 98 cents supports Segs4Vets’ mission — empowering injured men and women to live independently.
