Farm Product Security Notification System

Loading...

The Farm Product Security Notification System - FPSNS - is a prior notification service provided by MBA Bankers Service Corporation which allows lenders in Missouri to notify buyers of liens on crops and livestock. In Missouri, prior notification is the process available to lenders under the Food Security Act of 1985 to ensure that buyers of farm products are subject to a lender's security interest in those farm products. Lenders participate in FPSNS by completing a brief form on each loan which identifies the borrower and describes the farm product collateral. These forms are sent in to FPSNS and published in a standard format. The FPSNS publication is then sent to buyers six times a year in January, March, May, July, September, and November.

More than 1,300 buyers in and around Missouri have been notified of approximately 4,600 loans a year since the program began in May 1991. Beginning with 85 banks, the program has grown steadily, and new banks continue to participate each year.
